The catacombs at The Green-Wood Cemetery aren't just a resting place for the dead. At night, this hidden space becomes a gathering space for the living as music fills the usually empty cavern. This summer, Death of Classical will activate the catacombs with a series of intimate performances. We have your chance to win a pair of free tickets!
From June 18th through 20th, pianist Min Kwon will present a stirring musical portrait of the United States with America/Beautiful 250. Born out of the pandemic, America/Beautiful is comprised of pieces by 76 different American composers who each created their own variation of America the Beautiful.
Encompassing the despair, rage, and regret as well as the hope, humanity, and optimism of the nation, Kwon brings America/Beautiful 250 to the Catacombs to mark the country's 250th anniversary and the release of her complete recording of all 76 variations.

Before the concert, guests are invited to enjoy a pre-show reception in the modern chapel of The Green-Wood Cemetery, where you can enjoy drinks and snacks included with your ticket. The reception is followed by a 25 minute stroll through the cemetery (or a trolley ride) to the Catacombs for the concert. As the final notes fade away, you'll depart on a moonlit stroll back through the cemetery.
Death of Classical hosts concerts in a variety of unusual locations across New York City, including the crypts under St. John the Divine and the Church of the Intercession in Harlem. See all upcoming performances here!
