Most people don’t think of Central Park when they think of June’s LGBTQ Pride Celebration. However, the Park has not only played a significant role in LGBTQ culture, but it also benefitted from the creativity of queer artists who are mostly unknown to us in the 21st century. Today at noon, join tour guide Beth Goffe who was previously a guide for the Central Park Conservancy on a virtual live stroll through the park to explore LGTBQ contributions and highlight the role of Central Park in the evolution of Gay Culture in New York City. Some of the locations we’ll see are the Sheep Meadow: destination of the first Gay Liberation March; Bethesda Terrace and its Angel of the Waters; the Ramble; and we’ll discuss two talented gay men who came to the aid of the park when it was at one of its lowest points.
This live talk is organized for Untapped New York Insiders — get two months free with code STAYHOME. A video of the talk will also be made available to all our Insiders afterwards in the Video Archive section of our website.
