About this Tour:

Gain a greater understanding of the past, present, and future of the World Trade Center Site on this guided tour led by fellow Untapped New York Insider and 9/11 Memorial Museum volunteer Lisa Kleist.

Learn about the development of the site, from its forgotten days as "Radio Row" through the construction of the first World Trade Center with the Twin Towers at its center. We'll examine how the tragic events that occurred on September 11, 2001 forever changed this area of Manhattan and discover how the site was reconstructed not only as a lasting memorial to those we lost, but also as a thriving center of business and culture for New Yorkers.

Guests will hear stories and see photos, diagrams, and maps to help understand the relationship of today's landscape and yesterdays' buildings and events.

*Please note that this 90 minute tour involves walking and some stairs. This tour is mostly outdoors and does not include admission to the 9/11 Memorial Museum.

About Your Guide, Lisa Kleist:

Lisa Kleist has been a volunteer at the 9/11 Memorial and Museum for 15 years. She developed this tour along with fellow volunteer docent, Ed Welter (who leads Untapped New York tours of the Woolworth Building). They used their knowledge of blueprints, personal experience and historical accounts to bring this tour to life. Ed and Lisa, with the Museum's consent, have offered this tour to fellow volunteers and staff and now are making it available for a limited run to Untapped New York members!

How many tickets can I reserve?

If you are an Insider level member ($20/month), you can reserve 1 ticket to this event. Explorer level members ($30/month) or Superfan ($100/month) can reserve 2 tickets.

The event is sold out?

In-person member experiences may have limited capacity and are booked on a first-come, first-served basis.

But don’t worry! Sometimes spots open up closer to the event date if there are cancellations. Join the waitlist to be notified when open spots or new dates become available. We repeat our most popular events when possible, so you will have another opportunity to join us.

What if I need to cancel?

If you cancel more than 24 hours ahead of the scheduled event, you will receive a 100% refund. Please be courteous to your fellow members and let us know if you can no longer attend so we can offer your spot to another person.
