In the summer of 2010, Emily Benson’s parents said to her, “You don’t need to go to graduate school. You just need a great idea.”
Emily had always wanted to open her own boutique and post undergrad made the retail rounds at such prestigious companies as Abercrombie & Fitch, Henri Bendel and Club Monaco. She grew to love beautiful products and visual merchandising.
Inspired by the food truck revolution happening around her in New York City and her own love of travel, she started concepting new ideas for her future. The idea of a boutique that traveled sparked her creativity and she started researching just how it could work. With her business partner and team, her mobile boutique, The Fashion Truck, was born with the goal of bringing beautiful new apparel and accessories to the women of the East Coast.
As the first mobile boutique in Boston, The Fashion Truck is a Sunday regular at the SoWa Open Market in Boston’s South End. It will also be at selected concerts during the Lowell Summer Music series and at the Newport Reggae Festival. They’re also hoping to work side-by-side with food trucks in Boston & Cambridge. They also offer a concierge service that can “organize your fashion life”!
