About this Event:

Spend a Summer Friday at the Delacorte, the historic theater that is home to The Public Theater’s Free Shakespeare in the Park. New Yorkers can experience their revitalized theater like never before on select Fridays, and Untapped New York members get special access on this date.

Summer Fridays are on June 5th and 19th, as well as August 7th, 14th and 21st. From 12-4 PM, visitors can enjoy self-guided tours, onstage photo ops, family-friendly activities—and yes, pets are welcome. Then, from 6-8 PM, you can picnic with live music, giveaways, and special guests. Summer Fridays are free, festive, and open to all.

At this inaugural Summer Friday event, Untapped New York Insiders will learn about The Delacorte from a representative of the Public Theater and have the chance to win a pair of tickets to a Free Shakespeare in the Park show of their choosing for the 2026 season!

About The Delacorte & Free Shakespeare in the Park

The Delacorte has been home to many acclaimed actors, many of whom began their careers there, including Meryl Streep, Al Pacino, Sam Waterston, James Earl Jones, Kevin Kline, Raul Julia, Denzel Washington, Morgan Freeman, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Anne Hathaway, John Lithgow, Martin Sheen, Liev Schreiber, Patrick Stewart, Oscar Isaac, Amy Adams, Natalie Portman, Audra McDonald, Mandy Patinkin, and more. Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who will appear in Twelfth Night this summer, earned his Equity card in the 1997 Free Shakespeare in the Park production of On the Town

Since its inception, over six million people have enjoyed more than 160 free productions of Shakespeare and other classical works and musicals at The Delacorte Theater in Central Park. Conceived by founder Joseph Papp to make great theater accessible to all, Free Shakespeare in the Park continues to be the bedrock of The Public’s vision of artistic excellence and free access to culture.  The revitalized Delacorte reopened in summer 2025 and offers a state-of-the-art experience for audiences, artists, and staff alike with improved access for people living with disabilities.
