Map of Over a Billion NYC Subway Rides Reveals Hidden Connections
Find out what a year's worth of subway rides looks like!
Stepping into the McDonald’s at 6620 Bay Parkway in Bensonhurst today feels like stepping into the past. Vintage Tiffany-style lights hang from the ceiling, retro ads deck the walls, and classic characters are displayed in large-than-life murals. This 1980s pop-up is only open until midnight on Friday, September 1st, and we went inside!
We waited in line with about 20 people before we got to go in. It was certainly crowded as people wanted to see the transformation before the restaurant returns to 2023 tomorrow. You enter the McDonald’s through a Time Variance Authority (TVA) timedoor. Not sure what that is? Then you probably don’t watch Marvel’s Disney+ series Loki.
The TVA is a fictional organization that appears in the show which is celebrating the start of its second season with this 1980s McDonald’s pop-up. In the new season, which premieres on October 6th, a major character, Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino), works at McDonalds in 1982. At the pop-up, actors in TVA costumes were walking around the restaurant.
At the pop-up event, there are props and costumes from the show on display and the restaurant is filled with 1980s McDonald’s nostalgia. Everything from the yellow-colored booths to the vintage cash registers fit the time period. There are giant murals that feature vintage versions of McDonald’s characters like Officer Big Mac and Birdie the Early Bird and a large detail of the Hamburger Patch where tiny hamburgers grow.
For a limited time, the McDonald’s menu will offer As Featured In Meals with McNuggets, a Big Mac, and Quarter Pounder. The McNuggets and Big Mac meals will be offered at 1980s pricing! Check out more photos in the gallery below! If you want to make a trip to the 1980s, you have until midnight tonight!
