Thomas McKean fell in love with the MetroCard over twenty-five years ago and never looked back. In this live, virtual talk with the artist, you will get an inside look at how he creates whimsical collages and sculptures out of MetroCards, inspired by the sights of New York City!
You will also get to learn about McKean's intriguing family history, the subject of a new book he is working on, and have the chance to ask questions during an audience Q&A.
See Thomas McKean's work on his website, here!
McKean was born in New York, where he still lives. He has been featured on CBS Sunday Morning, NPR, Time Out New York, newyorknico, Reuters, and more.
At the moment (among other projects), McKean is writing and illustrating (with MetroCard collages, of course) a history of his family - New Yorkers for many generations.
