The stunning new crystal designs featured on Times Square's New Year's Eve ball represent Infinite Life, Liberty, and Happiness. Those themes are inspired by the 250th anniversary of the United States of America, a year-long celebration that will kick off with a second ball drop on New Year's Eve!

The new Constellation Ball is covered in 5,280 circular crystals crafted by Waterford, nearly double the number of triangular crystals that covered the old ball. Crafted by Waterford, the crystals come in three different sizes, ranging from 1.5 inches to 4 inches in diameter.

At a press preview this weekend, Bentley Hardwick, Global Head of Waterford, screwed in the first new crystal. The patterns etched within each crystal puck feature interlocking rings and repeating patterns that reflect and disperse the multi-colored lights behind for a shimmering effect.

A new crystal design will be introduced each year as part of Waterford’s Infinite Edition, a multi-year design series. Last year's themes were Infinite Joy, Infinite Light, and Infinite Beginnings.

Which themes would you propose?

On New Year's Eve, after the midnight ball drop, the ball will fall again at 12:04 a.m. EST to ring in 250th anniversary celebrations with special red, white, and blue confetti and a patriotic light display. You can stream the ball drop live online!
