Too much has been written and filmed about the famous Père Lachaise cemetary. The final resting places for over 300,000, it is the largest cemetery in Paris. The famous include Balzac, Chopin, Colette, Molière, Jim Morrison, Édith Piaf, Camille Pissarro, Gertrude Stein, Marcel Proust, and Oscar Wilde. I really liked what Columbia GSAPP student and friend Charles Irby did with his Diana lomography camera. The colors are alternatively oversaturated, washed out, and the focus unpredictable, like ghosts trespassing the lens of this great camera.
How to Get There:
Metro M2/M3 to Père Lachaise, M2 to Philippe August, M3 and M3 bis to Gambetta.
All photos by Charles Irby.
