Photos from Racing Extinction, Projection of Endangered Animals on Empire State Building

Last night, 20,000 lumen projectors illuminated the south side of the Empire State Building with images of endangered animals for the installation Racing Extinction, a project that could not have been more timely following the shooting of Cecil the lion in Zimbabwe, who got a special memorial callout. Travis Threlkel, co-founder of Obscura Digital, a visuals and graphics firm and Louie Psihoyos, a filmmaker and photographer who directed the Oscar-winning documentary The Cove, projected 375-foot animals over the course of 3 hours on a 31-story span of the Empire State Building.
