Supper Segreta (Secret Dinner) at a Gelateria
Celebrate the best of Italian Gelato in a festive and unforgettable atmosphere!
To celebrate the publication of Ringo Starr’s memoir, Photograph, we joined the musician at The Strand Book Store, as he sat in conversation with his good friend, Steven Van Zandt. During the event, we were treated to rare footage and unseen photographs taken of Ringo during his early childhood days in Liverpool, and photos he took during his years with The Beatles. The event was held on the third floor, rare book section of The Strand.
Seated on a platform, they talked as good friends do, about their years in music from the Underground Garage show, celebrating Ringo’s album Postcards from Paradise, to his 70th Birthday Bash at Radio City Music Hall. Ringo talked about moving from behind the drums to behind the lens. His photographs have been widely shown, including his most recent exhibit at the National Portrait Gallery this past September.
His appearance at The Strand, and the release of his book Photograph kicks off a series of events that include the release of the film “Photographer“, directed by Mark Seliger, which will debut exclusively on the Rolling Stone magazine website October 27. The film takes a look back at Ringo’s little known passion for photography, and provides an intimate look at The Beatles through the lens of one of their own.
At the age of 75, Ringo is not only a prolific photographer and writer, but is also still making music, and will be concluding his North American Tour on October 31 when Ringo and The All-Starr Band will play at the Kings Theatre in Brooklyn (tickets here).
Photograph is his third book, following Octopus’s Garden (2014) and Postcards From The Boys (2004).
