We took a weekend break from Banksy-mania, but here’s what happened. The awesome vantage point of these photographs comes directly to us from Untapped Cities reader Bob Cooley (@bobcooley).
On Saturday, Day 12 of Banksy’s residency in New York City, the artist found a discreet spot in a construction zone next to Cooper Union in the East Village, across from the First Ukrainian Assembly of God Church. Within said construction site, he found a concrete piling which cleverly framed “Concrete Confessional,” his rendition of a Jesuit priest based on a photograph by Berni Schoenfield.
This was the early crowd, and Cooley was standing literally on top of the concrete that contains the piece:

Cooley tells us, “The milk crate (likely how he climbed in and out safely) and the construction pylon with LED light attached to it to illuminate the piece in the early morning/evening (if its still there).” Within 24 hours, it had been defaced

Update: Construction workers attempt to save “Concrete Confessional” with plexiglass.
